National League - Gents promoted
Congratulations to the Milngavie Gents playing in the National League. The
team managed to gain promotion from division 3 to division 2 – a great effort
from the players involved who were, – John Wilson, Scott Wilson, Findlay
McGhee, Stewart Robertson, Ruaridh Nixon, Stephen
Gallagher and Gary McKinstry.
July Social Tournament
The above was won by Frank
McCormick and junior Gavin Alan. Gavin was asked to play as a lady ( not like a
lady!) to make an even number of competitors.The
runners –up were veterans Anne Burns and Willie Taylor.(See “photos” page).
Bearsden Tournament
The above was held on Sunday
8th June. Liz Colquhoun & Mandy Alan represented the Club. Frank
McCormick & David Alexander reached the semi-final and Finlay McGhee &
Stewart Robertson made it through to the final WHICH THEY WON !!

The above was won by veterans
June MacLean & Douglas Baird and the valiant runners-up were Aileen Wild
& John Baikie. (See “photos” page).

Court Playing Time
Seniors members may play at
any time unless the courts are reserved for matches, tournaments, organised
social play or club coaching programme sessions. Times of these events will be posted on the
notice boards and the Club will endeavour to give as much notice as
possible. From time to time however,
sessions will require to be re-arranged at short notice and a notice will be
posted to this effect as soon as is practical.
Senior members will have
priority over Junior members at all times except:
Monday to Friday 4.00pm –
6pm and Saturday evenings from 6pm onwards when Juniors will have priority.
If the courts are full and members
are waiting to play, players already on court should vacate the court after 20
minutes play. This should be done in the
order that players started play. If
singles matches are being played and players are waiting to play, the singles
match should offer to make up a doubles with players who are waiting to play.
Social tennis has priority
over six courts from 2pm – 5pm on Saturdays and from 6.30pm – 9pm on Wednesday
evenings. If all six courts are not
being used, then other members can play on vacant courts with the understanding
that the court will be given up if the courts are eventually required for
social tennis.
The dates and times of
matches will be posted on the notice board at the start of the season and
during the season, as dates become known.
Any member bringing a
visitor to the Club should deposit the visitor’s fee of £3.00 per visit in an
envelope behind the bar or in the letterbox marked for the attention of the
Tennis Treasurer.
Advanced warning of matches
encroaching onto Social Tennis Sessions:
Wednesday 30th
April 2008 at 6.15pm, courts 1 – 3 will be required for Ladies Scottish Cup
Match
Wednesday 25th
June 2008 at 6.15pm, courts 1 -3 will be required for Senior Clydesdale Cup

To All Members:
Vets Spring Knockout Competitions
(Gents and Ladies Over 40’s and over 55’s)
Due to three home matches
scheduled for the above competition on Sunday 30th March 2008,
courts 4 and 5 will be required from 1pm onwards and four home matches
scheduled on Sunday 6th April, courts 4 and 5 will be required from
12 noon onwards. These fixtures are set
by ‘Tennis West of Scotland’ and not by the club. We would like to apologise in advance for any
inconvenience caused to members.
Physio Service
