On behalf of your
committee I would like to welcome you to the 2010 tennis season.
We are delighted to
report that the rejuvenation work has now finished on courts 1, 2 and 3. I am sure you will agree that with=
the
rejuvenated courts, the new fencing, new nets, etc this is a big improvement
and we sincerely hope that everyone will enjoy the benefit of these
improvements. To ensure that =
we get
the maximum life from the rejuvenation it is imperative that the courts are
maintained properly. It is mo=
st
important that the courts are brushed regularly and, as the tennis section
cannot afford to employ a groundsman, we are asking all members to brush the
court they use before or after play.
We have supplied new brushes for this purpose which we would ask, wh=
en
brushing is complete, they are replaced in one of the corners of the
courts. The Sports Club Groun=
dsman
will brush the courts once a week but, I must emphasise, that although this
will be a great help the courts require more regular brushing than this, so
would like to thank you in advance for your support with this. Ideally we would like to rejuvenate
courts 4 and 5 but this will be dependant upon income received from
memberships, etc.
For
Senior Members of the club our season will start with a Social Afternoon Fu=
n Tournament
on Saturday 27th March 2010.&nb=
sp;
Play will commence at 2pm with an Easter Theme, Easter Bonnet or fan=
cy
dress optional but preferable! If you wish to join in the fun it would be
appreciated if you could arrive no later than 1.45pm.
For
the Juniors we will be organising an Open Morning in May, offering free
coaching, fun competitions, etc. Date
for this will be posted on the notice board.
Milngavie coaching =
team
is looking forward to the new season and details of all coaching sessions,
junior tournament information, etc will all be posted on the notice board.<=
span

Adult coaching is
available on Sunday mornings, from 11th April onwards from 10.30=
am
– 11.30am at a cost of £3.00 per lesson to members. If you have any friends who are
non-members and are interested in attending the adult coaching sessions, pl=
ease
do not hesitate to bring them along.
The cost to non-members is £4.50 per lesson.=
We have once again
entered various junior and senior teams into the summer leagues. Details for the various teams̵=
7; match
practice sessions are attached to this letter. Also attached are details of home =
match
nights for all senior teams. =
Junior
matches are held at various times over weekends, please see notice board for
details. To be eligible for selection you must have an L=
TA
membership number.
Floodlights are fre=
e for
team matches but at all other times floodlighting must be paid for including
social tennis.

is enclosed and subscriptions should be paid by 30th April 2010.=
If you wish to stagger payment, th=
en you
may do so by sending a cheque for half the amount, together with an additio=
nal
cheque post-dated 1st July 2010.

If you introduce a friend to the club and they decide to join, once
their membership is complete you will be rewarded with £20 off your

are issuing vouchers to Senior, Student and Junior members again this year =

Senior Club Tournament this year.
Entry forms will be posted on the notice board shortly but this will=
be
dependant upon interest shown by the number of entries.
The Junior Club
Tournament will be run up to final stage over the school summer holidays. This year we are intending to hold
Junior Final’s Day on Sunday 29th August 2010 which will m=
ean
that six courts will be available allowing more finals to be played at the =
one
time. Entry forms are enclose=

should be returned to the Secretary no later than Sunday 6th Jun=
e 2010. There will also be entry forms on =
the
Notice Board at the bottom of the downstairs lobby.

allocated tickets for The Wimbledon Championships which will be held from 2=
1st
June – 4th July 2010.&nbs=

If you would like to be included in the ballot for these tickets ple=
ase
fill in the relevant form which is enclosed with this letter. The draw for the Wimbledon
tickets will take place at the Social Afternoon on 24th April 20=

so please return your form to our secretary Janet Stewart as quickly as
possible to avoid any disappointment. Once the draw has been made the names=
of
the lucky winners will be posted on the notice board.
Social tennis sessi=

are held on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm onwards and on Saturday afternoo=
ns
from 1.30pm. These sessions a=
re
enjoyed by all and I am very happy to report that we welcomed some new faces
last year who are now regulars at social tennis sessions. We would welcome the opportunity t=
o do
the same again this year. All
