Smoking Policy

 

 

Purpose

 

This policy has been developed to protect all employees, members, and visitors from exposure to second hand smoke and to assist compliance with the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005.

 

Policy

 

It is the policy of Milngavie and Bearsden Sports Club that the club premises and playing surfaces are smoke free and all employees, members and visitors have a right to work, play and socialise in a smoke free environment. The policy came into effect on 26 March 2006 and will be monitored closely during the first few months to guage effectiveness and thereafter reviewed annually by the General Committee of the Sports Club.

 

Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire club premises and all playing surfaces. Smoking will, however, be permitted in

 

a. All other open areas which are not part of the premises

b. The west facing side of the covered walkway on the ground floor which for the avoidance of doubt is the area facing the car park.

c. The first floor balcony.

This policy applies to all employees, members and visitors.

 

Implementation

 

Overall responsibility for implementation rests with Raymond Murray, Bar Manager.

All employees, members and visitors are obliged to adhere to, and facilitate the implementation of the policy.

 

Appropriate “No smoking” signs are displayed at the entrance to and within the premises.

 

Non-compliance

 

Disciplinary action will be taken if a member does not comply with this policy. Any breaches of the policy will be reported to the General Committee of the Sports Club who will have the authority to take appropriate action.

Those who do not comply are also liable to a fixed penalty fine from the Local Authority.
